Keeping a Job shiny and brand new
Have you just found a shiny new job or are you still in the old one that’s showing signs of wear? Regardless of which, your job is like a relationship - it’s not going to stay good if you do the wrong things. You can keep your job interesting and rewarding when you have high-quality One-on-Ones with your boss as I show you how in this mini course: Ones on Ones with Your Boss. (The course includes best practice one on one meeting forms plus managing your manager tips.)
Your Relationship With Your Boss is Your Most Important Work Relationship
The thing is that your relationship with your boss is the most important work relationship that you have. Because it's this relationship that determines:
- What work you do,
- Your career progression,
- Your increases and bonuses.
But ultimately your work happiness too. Because if you have a bad relationship or communications with your boss, you are going to hate your job.
Wondering how to manage your boss and what the best tips are for managing your boss? Regular one on one meetings with your boss are one of the best practices for managing up.
Taking Control of Your Boss Relationship
Hopefully you’re fortunate enough to have a boss who understands how effective a good one on one meeting is.
But just like everything else in management it takes two to tango. It’s not just about depending on your boss to run an Effective One-on-One meeting. You have the power to step up and take responsibility for your half of the One-on-One meeting. And when you do this, this is how you make sure that your needs are met.
What I’m talking about is how you can:
- Get recognition for the contribution you’ve made
- Make sure you aren’t wasting your time by working on the wrong things and
- Make sure you’ve got your blind spots covered because you can’t always rely on your boss to tell you what they should
And when you do this what happens is obviously you will be more effective in your job but you’ll get more job satisfaction.
And it doesn't matter if you've never had a one on one with your boss or if you've had hundreds. There is always something to learn and that's why I've made a short course for you. You can register for the free bite-size lessons here (Includes a one on one meeting template). I wish I had known about this when I started out because I could've saved myself a lot of stress, a lot of time plus progressed faster in my career.
