I'VE GOT BIG NEWS!
A lot of people that haven’t heard from me for sometime have got an email out of the blue from me. And I appreciate that you could be curious why.
Now this is a big step for me - for the first time I’m coming out of my shell a bit to tell people what I’ve been up to.
Personally it’s a challenge. I feel very nervous about what people will think. Is my message clear? Is it relevant, helpful and high quality? Or will I be harshly judged? Or unwelcome? Planning is la-la-land where everything is perfect. But coming out is harsh reality.
BUT I DO KNOW SOME THINGS TO BE TRUE:
People are unhappy at work and this is causing low productivity and life unhappiness
Manager’s are stuck with these unengaged employees and have a hard time compensating
Smart, educated people are put into management without relevant help and training. Even with the best intentions bad things happen. Manager is a dirty word. Too many people don’t listen to or respect their boss.
And I also know that there is a better way. Over the past years I’ve been researching and testing. The aim: to get the best of the best in practical, people management techniques.
The last thing I've figured out is that this stuff works, it's not perfect but it is a dam sight better than where we are today.
What I’m now busy with is recording these into online videos so that other people can get easy access to them. Why? Because this is what I wish I had had at the beginning of my career.
And this is the story I tell in my video - I confess how bad I was as a boss and what happened. You can see it here: Embarrassing Confessions of a Manager
SO THAT'S WHY I'M COMING OUT (COMMERCIALLY!)
I want to show you what I’ve got. It's been a real journey of discovery for me. I hope it’s interesting and helpful to you. And your input and bright ideas are appreciated.
PS...
PS in case you missed the last story, this is my vision about making a better work place.
